Spring Populaire 3/10/2018

Come ride with us and find out what randonneuring is about. The ride is free. Show up a bit early and we’ll give you a few pointers to help you use the route sheet as well. The ride will start and end in Seattle.

Ride Summary:

The populaire is our "introduction to randonneuring" ride. It is a fun ride with great views of the sound and the Olympic Mountains. Bring a friend and meet new people along the route.

From the start at Woodland Park, you’ll ride to Golden Gardens, pedal over to the Interurban Trail North, descend the delightful Perkins Way to the Burke Gilman Trail, spin along the Sammamish Trail out to Redmond and back to Seattle, and climb one steep hill to Zeeks Pizza up on top of Phinney Ridge.

This is an unsupported ride. You are expected to be able to be self-sufficient in the event you get a flat tire or need to  perform a routine repair on your bicycle. The group doesn't necessarily ride together the whole time – be sure to get a cue sheet at the start, or download the GPS track in advance, so you can navigate on your own. That said, the randonneurs are a friendly bunch (if we do say so ourselves), and we'd be happy to ride with you or lend a hand.

We will provide coffee and snacks at the start of the ride. At the halfway point in Redmond there are several places to get food including Peet’s Coffee, Whole Foods, and others in the same shopping center. The finish is at Zeek's Pizza on Phinney Ridge, where riders will hang out to share food and drink.
