If you see this on a desktop web browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc on a Mac, Windows, etc), then something is amiss. There's a strange interaction going on between some browsers (especially running in private/incognito mode or with enhanced tracking protection enabled) and Club Express. Until we devise a proper fix, you can work around this problem by:
- Click here to open the SIR home page in a new tab.
- Click the blue "Member Login" link in the upper right corner.
- Enter your name and password, then click the big blue "Login" button.
- Come back to this tab (you can close the home page tab if you wish) and refresh this page.
- Hopefully all is well and you can continue with the waiver and registration process.
If you see this on a mobile device (phone or tablet) then you probably got here by clicking a link within Facebook. Our registration process does not work with the Facebook IOS integrated web browser. You'll need to open this page in a "real" (native) browser:
-
Click the ellipses (three dots) in the upper right corner of this window. You may need to scroll the page up and down slightly to encourage the ellipses to appear at the top of the screen.
-
Click "Open in external browser" in the popup menu.
-
Continue with the waiver and registration process.
RUSA Route #3846 "2026 Brevet Week 600K"
If you’re new to riding in the Pacific Northwest, this ride will check some of the iconic boxes.
We start with one of the necessities of riding in the northwest, getting to the good stuff! The first 75K of this ride are not exactly pleasant, but they are fine. The ride out to Pierce County on Hwy 507 will find you riding the shoulder of a busy highway (although hopefully the early start will mitigate some of that). Once we get to the Foothills Trail, it improves drastically.
Lots of time and money has been invested in the Foothills Trail recently and you’ll enjoy about 35 KM of mostly pleasant, off road riding on a lot of new pavement. When you arrive in Enumclaw, be sure to refill at the Safeway or one of the nearby businesses, because it’s about to get real!
Leaving Enumclaw on Hwy 410 you soon start to climb up toward Cayuse Pass. Stop to replenish your water at the small store in Greenwater at about 141KM. Once you leave there, it’s time to get into your climbing gear. It is about 36 KM to the summit, but as Ricky said after the pre-ride “only the last 7 or so miles suck”. So we’ve got that going for us! Hopefully you’ll have clear skies, unlike the pre-rider, because the views of Mount Rainier on this climb are epic. Or not, if it’s cloudy or hazy.
After the summit there is a well-earned descent toward Packwood. Be careful on the descent, it can get really fast really quickly in spots! A word of warning from the pre-ride, it’s a long way to Packwood (38K), and it’s not actually all downhill. So don’t get complacent!
Fuel up in Packwood and start west back toward home. There are services in Randle at 243 KM and Morton at 272 KM. Leaving Morton you’ll discover that the climbing is not done yet! There’s a nice climb on Hwy 508 and then Centralia Alpha Rd from east to west for a change.
Refuel in Centralia 339 KM and roll the last mostly flat 35 KM into the overnight where you’ll be met by a volunteer with a bag of goodies to get you fueled up for Day 2.
Day 2 starts with a traverse of downtown Olympia and a climb up to the East Side. Once you manage all the roundabouts in Lacey you’ll make your way toward DuPont and Steilacoom for some amazing Puget Sound views.
From there make your way through Lakewood into Tacoma and eventually the Scott Pierson Trail. Be alert to stay on this trail as it winds and gets interrupted by streets in a few places. Also watch for other trail users and members of the homeless community along the way. Eventually, you come to another jewel, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Cross this iconic bridge on a dedicated bike trail with amazing views of the Tacoma Narrows and the islands off to the south.
Then on to Gig Harbor with more waterfront views. One thing you’ll learn about Northwest riding is that if you are enjoying a gorgeous waterfront, you are due for some climbing! Cut across the Key Peninsula to the town of Purdy and then the next batch of climbing begins. Once you turn onto Pine Rd, prepare for relentless punchy climbs almost until you get out to Hwy 3 in Belfair. Refuel at the Safeway and then enjoy about 25KM riding along the beautiful Hood Canal. You will share the beauty with lots of cars, but there’s usually plenty of shoulder. Stop for refreshments at the Union General Store at 513 KM, or continue another 9 KM to the control at the Twin Totems Convenience store at 521 KM.
Another 35 or so KM of highway riding through Shelton is next. Watch for entering and exiting traffic in a few places, and take a breath when you get to Steamboat Island Rd where there are more services available. Madrona Beach Road is next, a few kilometers of pleasant waterfront riding on the outskirts of Olympia.
Next we climb up Delphi Rd and Waddell Creek Road into Capitol State Forest. This will look familiar to those of you who rode the 300K on Sunday. Don’t worry, we’re not going up D-Line again!
Now we just descend into Littlerock and then it’s the final 18 or so flat kilometers to the finish where friendly SIR volunteers will be waiting to hear your tales of glory!
