Due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, this will be a no-contact brevet with all online registration and no manned food controls. We encourage you to bring along your own food and drink, but the route does pass through numerous towns where there are opportunities to refuel. We will report separately on specific COVID-19 protocols, which will apply not only to this brevet but also to future rides for an indefinite time period.

The online registration includes signing a responsibility waiver (using the same SmartWaiver app used for RUSA Permanents). After registering, you'll receive a confirmation email containing a link to the SIR waiver. Complete and submit the waiver to finalize your registration.

With regard to the waiver, we're bound by RUSA insurance rules, which stipulate that riders confirm the email address entered on the waiver. Here's an overview of the process:
  1. Go to https://www.smartwaiver.com/v/rusaWASeattle, complete the waiver, including your email address. This link is also in your event registration email. To minimize confusion, please also use these for the appropriate fields in the waiver:
    • Designated Event: Spring 600K
    • Designated Event Date: June 5, 2021
  2. Once submitted, you will receive an email containing a link to verify the email address. Click on the link in the email. This will confirm the waiver.
  3. Once you've confirmed the waiver, you'll receive another email with a link to the completed waiver, and your registration will be finalized.
YOU MUST SUBMIT A COMPLETED WAIVER IN ORDER TO START THE RIDE

This route is based on RUSA Brevet #2432, also held during this year's Brevet Week. This route uses almost entirely the same route as the Brevet Week 400k, but does not take the small out and back to Acme. The ride starts by going north on familiar roads to Snohomish and Marysville. The climb up to Lake Ki will definitely break up the pack! Keep a close eye up at Lake Ki as there are some easy-to-miss turns that could lead you off-course and down the wrong downhill!

After Stanwood, the route makes a loop on Camano Island that is stacked full of steep hills. Watch out for the INFO control at Utsalady Point Vista Park. The Elger Bay Grocery is another control on the island, and then you will go north back to Stanwood. The route does not take the southern portion of Camano Island as in other brevets. When returning back in Standwood the route goes north to Conway, Edison and Chuckanut Drive. If you are into a gravel path, the RWGPS follows the Interurban Trail, which has a tricky steep gravel downhill. Or if you choose, you can stay on Chuckanut Drive.

Immediately after the Fairhaven control, the route climbs steeply (max 10% grade) up Old Fairhaven Rd that gains about 600 ft in 3.5 miles. The route follows beautiful roads along Lake Whatcom. Once getting to SR9, the route takes a short 8 mile out and back to Acme, then heads south on SR9 to Sedro Woolley and Lake McMurray, and follows the Centennial Trail back to Snohomish. After the Broadway climb, the route takes the Paradise Lake back to Redmond for the overnight at Redmond Inn.

After the overnight control, the route then goes over Union-Novelty Hill to Carnation, then takes the Snoqualmie Valley trail to North Bend. The 1000 ft climb up Middle Fork is about a 15.5 mile climb (one way) to the end of pavement, so plan on stocking up water and food at North Bend. After returning to Snoqualmie, the route climbs up to Snoqualmie Ridge and descends to Lake Alice Road and gets onto the Preston Snoqualmie Trail all the way to Preston. After Preston the route follows side roads along I-90 (one road is gravel here) that leads you to Issaquah. The route then head south to Black Diamond, then north on the Wilderness/Green River and Cedar River Trails back to Renton. Finally, the route heads north through Bellevue and finishes in Redmond.
