The Craters 1200k is an incredible, unforgettable one-way ride through Washington and Oregon. You will approach Mount Rainier and then head southwest to the mouth of the mighty Columbia River catching views of Mount Adams, Mount St Helens, and Mount Hood along the way. After crossing the Columbia at Astoria, the route will take you down almost the full length of the Oregon coast before a 100 mile climb up to Crater Lake. It’s challenging, but no journey to such a sacred place should be without challenge. Crater Lake is a magical, wondrous place. Getting there by bike puts you in the right frame of mind to really appreciate it.

Day 1 begins in Redmond, Washington and heads southeast toward Mount Rainier on familiar roads to our first overnight in Cathlamet.  On Day 2 you will cross the mighty Columbia River, through Astoria to Seaside where you will follow the Oregon coastline.  At Cape Falcon you will head inland and ride through beautiful farmland before heading back to the coast to Newport and your second overnight.  Day 3 begins along the Coast, Cape Pepetua Marine Preserve and the Oregon Dunes to Redsport where you will continue inland to Glide for your third overnight. Saving the best for the last – Day 4 – 100 miles and approximately 10,000' of climbing to the peak of the Crater Lake Rim road.  Be prepared for scenic views and a beautiful descent into Klamath Falls.

Please note that this ride is difficult and largely unsupported. Although we will transport drop bags to three overnight stops (and the finish), you are on your own for the rest. Riders are expected to study the route in advance, do their own research on services available, and make plans for the sometimes long stretches where no services will be available.
